Laziness and playful are 2 things that's no doubt are the reasons. But he is creative enough in the things he does. If he likes or interested in things he is indulging, he will go far.
Sadfully, in terms of study we neglected him. Everyday with his PS2, and we expect much to come from him, which is unreasonable.
Also I dont understand what he is being taught in school. I couldn't see any technique that he use to solve Maths problem. To teach him something new may be contradict what he is "taught" in school so we took the easy way out of not teaching at all.
As a result Adam dropped class 2 years consecutively. As far as I'm concerned, he is as good of guessing on the question paper at school.
I think Adam is concerned enough on his falling classes. He may not know what to do. And worst accept the fact that it is his standard which i hope not.
English is the language that he must grasp in order to understand what he has to answer. When English is poor, meaning that understanding is poor where Maths and Science (English is obvious) is effected. If he cant even understand basic English how do we expect him to understand what is hope to come from him. So I figure if he can improve his English he can improve in many things. Not forgetting his understanding of BM too.
So its time for revelation and a turning point to dear Adam.
So this school holidays, I must provide Adams with work to improve his studies. I dont want to regret later on because I didnt give attention and because of that his school suffers and he missed the boast because he was not coached properly. F*** the school if they are the ones who are incompetence. And dont depend too much that he will improve if sent to tuition either. What important is his attitude. If that change that he can change.
The Strategies :-
- teach the right technique. Forget what the school should or is teaching. Just find out whats right from the videos in the net and adopt that. This is particularly true in Mathematic.
- when the technique is taught get plenty of exercise by printing worksheets.
- find out how and learn and teach language. Even if it comes from the basic thing then revert it.
- make folder in the computer where he can watch when he likes. Organise clamul also so that he can watch too.
- give him videos to watch on and on. Copy to mp5 and let him watch too.
- invest in good place to teach and learn. Big white board. Tables and chairs and good lighting. When giving exercise make sure he has the right tools - blank papers, 2B pensils, rubber and sharpener etc.
- online Quizes. keep on doing and provide the best for him. its time consuming but its good. perhaps you can create your blog on child education with the tools of doing it. ha ha ha. thats a thought. i am sure there are many people (parents per se ) out there who are in the niche.
- get ps2 games that concern learning.
- record your own video on how to do things and let him see again and again
