Once in a while you may come across postings from me about a particular download. To some of us parent, that may be a new thing when it involve Free Sharing File service like hotfile, rapidshare, deposit files, fileserve, mediafire, 4shared and many many more.
So what are these, by the way ?
These are establishments who provide free service (some can opt for a paid ones) for the public to share files. One party will upload the files and the server will provide the URL link to the file being stored. If you want to download the files (after reading some reviews from emails, social networks, or blog like this one), you will click on the designated link and download the file.
Normally you are required to provide something to a text box to make sure you are not a robot.
For free users (like yourself most probably) your download speed will be low. Then there is a restriction where you cannot download more than 1 file at a time or you need to wait before being given the go ahead to download another file.
There are all sorts of files type you will encounter. Digitized books or ebooks which are normally in PDF format are quite small in size less than 1.5MB normally unless there are lots of graphics or the pages are scanned instead of converted. Movies can go even to as large at 2 GB ! But we are not going to talk about that, will we ?
Lets take the gun as an analogy - Good or bad will depend on how one use it or when it is used. Shooting people and killing them are bad. So does shooting tiger. But shooting people or tiger who are about to kill you is essential to your survival. This goes the same to what is being downloaded from the net.
The rest is up to you to think.
Thanks.
